Resiliency Bingo - A fun skill building activity for all ages!
Teaching our kids how to be strong, overcome stress and cope with life’s many challenges in this day and age can be….well…challenging! Here is one fun way to tackle this.
Our friends from the Warren Coalition in Front Royal Virginia describe how they created a new take on this classic game for students in the elementary schools. Contact Celeste Brooks for more tips on how to implement this game for your event.
Use regular bingo cards and numbers, but instead of saying "B....4" they say things like "B....brave...4." For one game, the word for each letter stays the same. At the end of the game, the kids are quizzed on the words and what they mean. They go over what resilience is and how you can build more of it.
The parents are present and play the game too, and dinner is generally served (low cost - $5 per family). For the next game, the words are switched up, so the second round, it might be "B...beautiful...4". They play five rounds and each child gets small prizes for answering the questions. This game is hosted at each elementary school during the school year. Other prizes are handed out such as Subway gift cards, board games and gift cards to local stores - items we can get donated.
