Welcome to our Unplugged Village®

Since 2009, hundreds of thousands of Global (formerly National) Day of Unplugging participants have joined the movement to elevate human connection over digital engagement in their cities across the globe.

Medium Rare, a fine dining restaurant in DC, encouraged device-free dining during February 2022 and 2023 by providing free SmartPhone Nap-Sacks to customers who wanted a place to put their phone during their meal.

Ellen Oshinsky has also joined the movement in the DC area. Ellen is the Founder of Circle and Spoke, which focuses on women's empowerment through bike rides and retreats that emphasize rest, reflection, and community. She believes in the power of creating bridges between people, communities and nature to build a more just and compassionate world.

Ellen took part in our Unplug Collab Hinge Seed Fund (pictured below) providing the opportunity for connective conversations, a guided labyrinth walk experience and bike ride. She is also an honored 2024 Wild Gift Fellow and will be in the woods trekking OFFLINE for 3 weeks in September of 2024. Check back for her guest blog where she will share some learnings about having juicy time off technology!

If you live in the DC area and would like to have unplugged programming in your neighborhood, consider joining us, as we all have a stake in building a healthy community!
