Create a StoryWalk® or Stroll
Take an outdoor adventure and encourage a love for reading!
Kids love adventures and you can work storytelling into your next trek. Pick a path and place pages of a book along the path for kids to find. There are a few ways to do this but here is a link to the StoryWalk® Project (Which was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition (VBPC) and the Kellogg Hubbard Library).
Some groups set up official more permanent stands for story walks but most seem to do the DIY method of laminating pages from a children's book, then attaching them to wooden stakes and installing them along a designated route.
Here are some ideas from Pinterest and also a video from the Appalachian Regional Library.
